As the new academic year begins, I wanted to take a moment to extend a warm welcome to you and your daughters as they embark on their journey into Year 9. It is with great excitement and anticipation that we greet this new chapter together.
I am thrilled to have the privilege of being your daughters’ Head of Year. I will be their first point of contact, providing support, guidance, and encouragement throughout their Year 9 experience. Together, we will create a nurturing and inclusive environment where their individuality and growth will be celebrated. Reflecting on our time together during the PGL trip in Year 7, I was genuinely impressed by the resilience, enthusiasm, and spirit your daughters demonstrated. They embraced challenges with open minds and supported one another with unwavering kindness. Their positive attitude and determination left a lasting impression, and I am excited to continue witnessing their personal and academic growth in Year 9.
As a Psychology teacher, I am passionate about nurturing their curiosity and understanding of the human mind and behaviour. Throughout the year, we will delve into fascinating topics through assemblies, engage in thought-provoking discussions, and explore the many wonders of the mind during tutor time. We at Sutton High School, are committed to creating an inclusive and stimulating classroom environment that fosters critical thinking and empowers each student to reach their full potential, through courage, truth and joy.
In addition to our academic endeavours, I encourage your daughters to take advantage of the wide range of extracurricular activities we offer. From sports teams and music ensembles to debating clubs and art workshops, our school provides a rich and diverse extracurricular program. These activities not only promote physical well-being and skill development but also foster friendships and a sense of belonging within the school community. I strongly encourage your daughters to explore these opportunities and participate actively in the extracurricular life of our school.
Year 9 promises to be a rewarding and busy year filled with exciting challenges and opportunities for growth. Together, we will navigate new academic subjects, develop essential skills, and cultivate resilience and perseverance. I will be there every step of the way, supporting and guiding your daughters through their educational journey.
