The French Department visits Nice – très magnifique!

Florence in Year 10 reflects on a wonderful trip to Nice.

Our school trip to Nice last June for Year 9s and 11s was incredible. It was a fantastic opportunity to practise our French skills, especially when ordering lunch at local cafés! On the second day, we visited Grasse, the world’s perfume capital, where we toured a traditional parfumerie. We learned about the fascinating process of creating fragrances and had the chance to sample and purchase a variety of unique scents. In the evening we walked up to the lively Promenade des Anglais for an ice-cream! For our Formula 1 fans, the highlight was day three, when we took a scenic train ride into Monaco. There, we witnessed the changing of the guard at the Prince’s Palace and soaked in the atmospheric glamorous city around us. On our final day, we explored Nice with our guide, hiking up to a breathtaking viewpoint overlooking the Mediterranean Sea and the colourful houses below, then partaking in a French lesson at a local school. Despite our somewhat long and challenging journey to Nice (via Italy), the trip was a huge success and we created lots of unforgettable memories!
