Sutton High School hosted the inaugural GDST Biennale at the prestigious Dulwich Picture Gallery on the 30th June 2023.
It was a fabulous day that included a Watercolour Workshop and a tour of the Permanent Collection for art staff and the award-winning students. 14 GDST schools entered the Awards, travelling from as far as Cardiff to attend the ceremony and receive their awards from Beth Dawson, Head Teacher. The celebrations were held in the Linbury Room where the winners were toasted with mouth-watering mocktails and delicious cakes, amongst an expertly curated exhibition of the 38 prize-winning pieces. What a superb way for our schools to come together and share the amazing creative work of all our young artists!
Sutton High won three Silver Awards! Congratulations to Georgia for her superb abstract photography, Florence for her fantastic sculpture and Emily for her wonderfully elaborate mask. Entries were judged by the BP Portrait Prize winning artist James Hague and the celebrated watercolour painter and print-maker Violeta Bravo.
A special mention and congratulations to Mrs Cartwright for beating off stiff competition to win Gold in the coveted Teachers Award!
