School Expectations
Behaviour Around the School
We expect you to behave well around the school, remembering that we have very young pupils who will see you as role models:
We do not run indoors
We walk on the left on staircases and adhere to entrance/exit rules and up/ down stairs in STEAM and Garden Building
We are silent as we approach and upon entering the assembly hall, and at the end of assembly
We hold doors for each other
We only eat food in the Dining room or outside (in Years 7-9)
We put all litter in the appropriate bins and we pick up others’ litter if they have forgotten, or if asked by a staff member
We keep an eye out for people whose mobility is less easy than our own, making space, allowing others to go through doorways first, etc.
We respect and adhere to the ‘silent’ signs that indicate that a public exam is taking place nearby
We follow the instructions of staff in the Dining Room, only entering when given permission to do so, queueing in an orderly fashion and not pushing past others to get there first
We show respect for all staff in the community, including those we may not know or who may not be teachers
We do not leave our belongings (e.g. our bags) around the site
We are careful with our use of language and we do not shout
Mobile Phones
All mobile phones must be switched off and out of sight at all times. You can lock your phone in your locker, but it must be out of sight at all times.
If you do have your own mobile phone you may bring it into school at your own risk. You must not use their own phone to call or message parents during the school day. If you need to contact home during the school day, you should ask staff at reception who will help you.
Any visible phones during the school day from 8.20am-3.35pm will be confiscated and a detention will be given. Three confiscations will result in daily phone report.
Chewing Gum
Chewing gum is not permitted at school. Any pupil chewing gum will receive a detention.
