It’s all systems Go for our girls in year 7, 8 and 9 as they take on the ancient Chinese strategy game of 去 or Go!
Created more than three thousand years ago, Go has simple rules but endless strategic depth and is a significant part of the cultural fabric in Japan, China, and Korea, where it is known as Igo, Weiqi, and Baduk, respectively.
Players take turns placing pieces on an empty board, competing to control more territory. But beware! Overstretching your pieces can lead to capture and removal from the board.
Go lessons will take place on Mondays at lunchtime in G12 for Year 7, 8, and 9 students. Special thanks to Mr Monk from the British Go Association, who joins us at Sutton High School weekly to teach the game and guide us through its strategies.
With simple rules but endless strategic depth, Go is a thrilling game for all ages.
