Thursday 14th November was a cold windy autumn day, but it would be an afternoon my sister and I would never forget. Ralph Lauren had invited Arya and I to a very special Christmas charity event at their flagship store in Bond Street, London. My dad does a lot of volunteer work with Royal Marsden charity who are supported by Ralph Lauren. We didn’t know what to expect that day but we knew it would be something magical – especially after a package of handpicked RL outfits arrived to our home the night before!
After a bustling train journey up into Central London where we were trying to contain our excitement, we walked from Green Park station to No. 1 New Bond Street, Ralph Lauren. Arya and I were mesmerized by the beautiful lights all around that lit up London!
We were met by friendly staff who took us to the lower level where children’s entertainers played lots of games with us. Waiters, dressed very smartly, carrying silver platters of chocolate milk, wrapped finger sandwiches and warm, giant cookies made sure our tummies were always full! Half way through decorating ceramic snowflakes, a giant Polo RL bear greeted us and gave us a big hug. He took us over to meet Santa who was sat in a plush cosy cove in the middle of the store. After a brief natter, his elf gave us Ralph Lauren goodies! As if this wasn’t exciting enough, we were taken up to the front of the store for our final treat.
Crowds had gathered around the front of the store, while a spectacular choir of young girls sang sweet Christmas melodies. The Ralph Lauren store had a huge Christmas tree in front, filled with golden sparkling baubles known as the Giving Tree. Over the festive season, the Giving tree is lit up and visitors can make donations to Royal Marsden and dedicate a star to a loved one. Arya and I were called up and had the honour of counting down and lighting up the Giving Tree on Bond Street! It was such a magical day and we are still so grateful to both Ralph Lauren and Royal Marsden for the experience. It’s certainly beginning to look a lot like Christmas!
