Kiera E (Year 13) reporting on the cultural performance evening arranged by Elina (Year 13) a member of Student Leadership Team.
Tuesday 21st November marked Sutton High’s first “Our World” cultural evening. Flooded with music and art, the colours of our school’s cultural tapestry flourished in the evening’s showcase.
We were lucky enough to have a range of performance from cultural music and dance, to poems and art. Gilded in cultural dress, everyone involved shone as they shared the beauty of their cultures with our community. We started the evening with a warm welcoming speech by the organiser of the event, Elina (Year 13), a member of the student leadership team.
From there, the evening took off with a spectacular trio dance that filled the room with energy. We heard such a range of beautiful songs sung expertly before the event led into more amazing dances. It was a pleasure to also hear the words of many students through poetry and speech as they shared a side of the arts in their culture important to them and original poetry that left the room in awe.
It was crowd’s reaction is that topped off the entire event. To see so many young people embracing their culture so proudly was inspirational to watch and created such excitement in the room as parents and audience members alike truly had the most wonderful time.
Everyone left with their hearts full and it was truly a pleasure to be involved helping to bringing Elina’s vision to life.
