As we embark on the Autumn term of 2024, I am delighted to welcome back all our families, both returning and new to Sutton High School. Autumn is always a special season, marking the beginning of new journeys and offering us a chance to look ahead with renewed optimism. It is a time for making new friends, meeting new teachers, and embracing fresh learning experiences.
Our Sixth form class of ’24 have just begun their onward further education journeys and achieved outstanding A level results across all subjects. Over half of all grades were A or A*, a quarter of our pupils gained straight A*/As, and 80% have gone on to their first-choice university, with a substantial number going on to prestigious Russell Group universities.
In addition, we are pleased to announce that construction of our new sixth form building is underway. This state-of-the-art complex will provide our sixth formers with the highest standard of facilities and the most advanced technology available. We anticipate that the building will be nearing completion by January 2026.
We also have several exciting events lined up for the coming months, including our first SHSA fundraiser ball, which will be held on Saturday, October 5th, at the school. We are honoured to have Aletha Shepherd, a former alumna and bursary recipient from the class of 2004, as our guest speaker. Aletha will share her inspiring story of how a Sutton High School bursary and education have positively impacted her journey. The event will also feature a live auction with an array of exciting experiences up for bids, including an exclusive dinner party for eight hosted by a Claridge’s trained chef, Wimbledon tennis tickets, and highly sought-after concert tickets. Additionally, our silent auction will go live online next Thursday, September 19th, with around thirty unique items available. I encourage you to purchase a ticket for this event; it is a wonderful opportunity to connect with other parents in the Sutton High community, enjoy a fun night out, and support future bursary recipients.
Wishing you and your families all the best for the coming term.
