Additional Support in Every Subject

Year 10 is an important time for making a positive start on your GCSE subjects.

For every subject you study, there will be a time in your timetable where intervention sessions run. These might be small group sessions, one-to-one support
or target groups to help you move up to the next level. You will not have every subject, every week, but rather it will be targeted support when needed, taught by your subject teachers.

You will always be told in advance if you are going to take part in additional support, and this will be at all levels, for those who need extra stretch and those who need extra help.

GCSE Pod

Pupils who achieve highly at GCSE are often considering their revision right from the start of Year 10. It can be useful to use GCSE Pod to support your preparation for GCSE and this is a tool that is perfectly placed to support you, as it is tailored to the specifications and content that we cover at Sutton High.

You can log-in to GCSE Pod at any time and use it to get ahead or to consolidate what you have learnt in class – even 15 minutes on GCSE Pod every day can see your grades increase significantly at GCSE.

Asking for Help

At GCSE, there are bound to be topics that you find challenging. There is a big leap from Year 9 to Year 10, and we expect you to ask for help if you need it. Your teachers will always be willing to help you, but we are not mind-readers! We only know that you are struggling to understand a topic, or need a bit of an extra steer with your work, if you let us know. Once we know, we can help you, and that might be with one-to-one support in class or an extra tutorial. You can email your class teachers, or speak to them in lessons.
