In an exciting venture beyond the sixth form, A Level sociology students recently embarked on a school trip to Croydon Crown Court. We had the privilege of meeting a distinguished Judge who generously took the time to share insights into the judicial process. This unique encounter allowed our students to gain a firsthand understanding of the responsibilities and challenges faced by those presiding over the court.
During the visit, our students witnessed the wheels of justice turning in real-time. From the intensity of sentencing to the emotional dynamics of a plea hearing, and the meticulous preparation pre-trial, our students were immersed in the legal proceedings that shape our society. The experience not only broadened their knowledge of crime and deviance but also sparked thought-provoking discussions and inquiries, fostering a deeper appreciation for the importance of a fair and just legal process. We are immensely grateful for the opportunity to engage with the legal community and look forward to more enriching experiences that empower our students with knowledge beyond textbooks.
