Year 9 participated in Learn to Earn where they participated in hands-on activities supported by volunteers from the world of work and they learnt (in their words),
You are never fixed to one profession.
How to budget yourself to save more money.
Apprenticeships are good.
In Form Time, students have been able to participate in activities and hear from SHS alumnae about their varied pathways.
Students in Year 7 and 8 during their NCW Assembly, were encouraged to consider career as a journey through life, learning and work and the importance of transferable skills; particularly as 65% of students will be employed in jobs that do not exist yet. They also know where to find Mrs Lenaghan, if they have any questions at all about their next steps, during their journey through SHS!
Ruth MacLaren, who left SHS to go onto a BBC Broadcast Engineer Apprenticeship, is visiting Year 10 and 11 on Friday to talk about her Apprenticeship journey and to inform students further about this pathway.
