Laura Y in Year 6 has been offered a place playing the clarinet in the National Children’s Orchestra. This is a fantastic opportunity for Laura to play with other young musicians, work on a range of inspiring music, and engage with renowned guest artists, some of whom have included Jess Gillam and Nate Holder in the past. In addition to the onsite rehearsals and concerts on the 25th of February and the 16th of June, NCO also offers various online activities. In 2024, these will include Welcome launch events, individual Orchestra Big Meets, and inspiring webinars. Moreover, there will be online resources available, such as Conductor and Tutor Welcome Videos, Wellbeing and Creative activities, advice, as well as music excerpts, parts, and playlists. At NCO, we expect that Laura will make new friends, discover new things about herself, and embark on her own distinctive musical journey. NCO will enable Laura to flourish through the power of playing music together, support her development and ambition, empower her creatively, and respond to what matters to her.
