Nursery & Prep
Apply nowWe welcome admissions enquiries throughout the year for entry into any year group and can arrange a personal tour at any time, so there is no need to wait for an Open Morning to come and see us in action.
As a family school, we are proud that girls who join Prep School in Year 3, 4, 5 and 6 will be considered for automatic transfer to Senior School without the requirement to sit our 11+ examination.
We are currently full in Year 6 for September 2024 start. Any applications will be assessed for a limited number of waiting list places.
Our Prep School Admissions Officer, Mrs Gabrielle Stubbs, is here to help you every step of the way. Please do get in touch: prepadmissions@sut.gdst.net / 020 8225 3021, or make an enquiry here.
Step 1
Come and get to know us. You can either book online for an Open Event or it’s easy to arrange a personal tour with a member of the Prep School leadership team. If you want, you can do both! We look forward to meeting you.
Step 2
To apply for a place, please complete our online application form. You will need to pay a non-refundable registration fee of £125 (or £175 for overseas applications).
Step 3
Entry to Nursery, Reception, Year 1 and Year 2
We do not have entrance assessments for our younger girls as we believe that their ability cannot be meaningfully tested at such a young age.
Instead, you and your daughter will be invited to spend some time with us to confirm that we are the right fit for you. Your daughter will join one of our classes for a short session, or for the whole day if she would like. At the same time, you will also meet a member of the Prep School leadership team. We encourage you to bring your daughter’s last school report, if she has one, to share with us. We will be reinstating home visits once an offer has been accepted so that your daughter can get to know us further in the comfort of her own home.
Entry to Years 3, 4, 5 and 6
Girls will be invited to a Ready for Prep assessment. They take online tests in verbal and non-verbal reasoning and they have an informal meeting with a member of the Prep School leadership team. No preparation is needed for either the tests or the meeting.
Our next assessment mornings for Spring Term 2025:
- Wednesday 8 January: 7+ and 8+ assessments for Autumn 2025 entry
- Wednesday 15 January: 9+ and 10+ assessments for Autumn 2025 entry
- Wednesday 5 February: 7+ and 8+ assessments for Autumn 2025 entry
- Wednesday 12 January: 9+ and 10+ assessments for Autumn 2025 entry
- w/c Monday 13 January: Meet Miss Musgrove appointments for EYFS – Year 2 for Autumn 2025 entry
Our assessment is designed to be a fun, exciting experience. You only need to bring a book your daughter has enjoyed reading, her last school report and something she is proud to talk about.
Step 4
For entry up to Year 2, we will be in touch to confirm our offer shortly after your daughter’s learning session in school. Places are offered on a first-come, first-served basis. Girls gain automatic entry into Year 3.
Girls applying for entry to Years 3 and above will be offered a place subject to the results of our Ready for Prep assessment. The offer will also indicate if your daughter has been guaranteed a place in our Senior School.
We look forward to welcoming you to Sutton High School!
Entrance registration fee and deposit
From January 2025, a non-refundable registration fee of £150 (£240 for overseas candidates) is charged for taking the entrance examination/assessment and is not transferable from one entrance year or sibling. A deposit of £1,000 (for overseas pupils this is £3000 for Prep School and £5000 for Senior School) is charged on the acceptance of a place and will be retained until the pupil leaves the school. The deposit will not be refunded if the place is not taken up.
Specialist teachers from an early age is a huge advantage for learning and gets the girls familiar with a wider range of teachers to learn from.
