On the 15th of November, the A level DT students along with the DT department took a trip to London to visit the Foster + Partners office as well as The Garden At 120 (an amazing rooftop view of London). We departed in the afternoon and headed for London Bridge. We took a stroll around Central London and observed all the fantastic architecture such as the Lloyd’s building. On our way to the Garden At 120 we did some more sightseeing before heading up to the roof. The views were breath taking and we got an amazing look at the Gherkin up close (an example of Norman Foster’s architecture).
It was a bit chilly, but the sights were completely worth it! From the Garden At 120 we made our way to South Kensington where we would find the firm. When we arrived, we were astonished to see part of the office had massive glass windows where we could see all of the designers and manufacturers hard at work. Inside, we were given a tour and presentation of what Foster + Partner’s is all about and what they have been working on. This is including key advice for us as young and aspiring designers. We would like to thank Miss Tang Wah for arranging this incredible opportunity for us – it was an inspiring experience, and we had a great time!
